Welcome to Adlington Parish Council

A Parish Council is the first tier of local government and consists of local people elected to represent the local community or civil parish.

A Parish Council receives a small amount of funding called the precept which is collected through Council Tax payments. The Parish Council use the precept to enhance and improve the local community.

Adlington Park

Cavendish Consulting, working on behalf of Belport, have circulated information regarding proposals for a development of homes on land North-West of Adlington, referred to as ‘Adlington Park’.

Adlington New Town

Adlington remains under consideration as a new town site, however, it has not been identified as a preferred site at this stage. A further decision is awaited. The proposal, led not by local councils but by a property developer, would see up to 20,000 homes and commercial spaces across 1,000 hectares of protected Green Belt and farmland in rural Cheshire. This will have a devastating effect on local towns/villages, wildlife and already over stretched infrastructure.

Joining an Adlington Parish Council Meeting

The Parish Council meeting is a meeting of the elected Parish Councillors which is held in public. A Parish Council meeting is not a public meeting and, therefore, not a forum for any public present to debate amongst themselves or with the Parish Councillors.

Members of the public can highlight matters during the maximum of 10 minutes of Public Participation, but decisions will only be made in respect of published agenda items.

Occasionally there is a need to call an extra meeting of the Parish Council and notices for any extra meetings will be added to our website and also posted at the noticeboards listed above.
